Six-month jail for defying isolation rules, warns Health Ministry



KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health has stated that it was aware that some people confirmed to have the coronavirus infection have withstood isolation rules.

In the regular press briefing of the Ministry of Health and Population, Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam requested family and neighbors to monitor.

Spokesperson Gautam said that according to the Infectious Diseases Act, a COVID-19 infected person could be jailed for up to six months if found walking outside and meeting others without sitting in isolation.

He stated that the Ministry of Home Affairs and the District Administration Offices have been asked to take action against such persons.
