NSU demands action against Chalaune’s assault



KATHMANDU: Nepal Student Union (NSU) has sought strict against those involved in the assault against Tribhuvan University’s Lecturer Prem Bahadur Chalaune.

NSU, the student wing of main opposition party, Nepali Congress, has lambasted the attack on Lecturer Chalaune and has demanded the government to take action against those involved in the attack.

Issuing a press release on Friday, NSU President Rajeev Dhungana has defied the involvement of any NSU members in the incident.

“There is no involvement of NSU in the attack, NSU demands a probe of the incident and strict action against the guilty,” President Dhungana has said, “We regret the attempts to link NSU in such heinous act.”

NSU has requested TU administration to arrange for the bruised Chalaune’s treatment.

He has denounced the act of mentioning its leaders undergoing treatment in isolation as those involved in the incident.

A lecturer at Tribhuvan University’s Department of Sociology and Anthropology, Chalaune was struck with iron rod in TU premises on October 8. Chalaune is undergoing treatment in Medicity Hospital.
