3 held in connection with 17-yr-old girl’s rape in Baitadi



BAITADI: Police have arrested three individuals in connection with the rape of a 17-year-old student in Sigas rural municipality in Baitadi district.

DSP Narayan Prasad Adhikari of District Police Office, Baitadi said they are investigating the case after arresting three accused based on the complaint lodged by the victim’s parents.

The eight-grader of a school in the rural municipality has alleged that her teachers Khadka Boraha, Keshav Boraha and a local Ram Bahadur Bohara raped her.

The parent of the vicim have accused that their daughter was forced to elope with a boy after her teachers made her pregnant.

Two teachers have allegedly raped their own student and made her pregnant in Sigas rural municipality in Baitadi district.

The heinous crime came to the fore after the 17-year-old girl who eloped with a boy gave birth to a baby within six months of her marriage.

According to Chapter 18 of National Civil (Code) Act, 2074, if someone keeps sexual intercourse with a girl below the age of 18, even if it is consensual, constitutes rape.
