KATHMANDU: District Administration Offices of three districts in the Kathmandu Valley are holding a meeting today (Wednesday) to decide whether to remove the ongoing prohibitory order or to continue with it with some relaxations.
The Chief District Officers of the Kathmandu Valley will hold a district security committee meeting to take an official decision regarding it today.
A meeting of the COVID-19 District Crisis Management Center (CDCMC) held on Tuesday discussed relaxing the restriction that was imposed three weeks ago.
“The number of food distributors will increase in a few days,” said a security officer in the CDCMC meeting on Tuesday, adding, “The culture of doing photo session in the name distributing foods will give rise to coronavirus infection cases. Hence, the prohibitory order should be relaxed.”
CDOs of three districts – Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur reviewed the ongoing prohibitory order in a meeting with Secretary of the Home Ministry Maheshwor Neupane yesterday.
The meeting concluded to relax the restriction by strictly implementing the public health standards.
Talking to Khabarhub, Kathmandu’s CDO Janak Raj Dahal said a joint meeting to be held on Wednesday will take final decision.
Mayors’ forum in the Kathmandu Valley on Tuesday suggested tightening the entry points to the capital by deploying Nepal Army and imposing odd-even rule.
The prohibitory order has been imposed in 37 districts –fully in 26 districts including the Valley and partially in 11 districts – across the country.
Industrialists and professionals have suggested relaxing the prohibitory order saying that the daily life has became more complicated due to the continuous restrictions.
