Flood, landslide survivors airlifted to Kathmandu; missing 20 identified



SINDHUPALCHOWK: Five persons including a seven-day baby, who were injured in the incident of flood and landslide at Bahrabise municipality-5, Jambu and Bhotekoshi rural municipality-5, Bulkot in Sindhupalchowk district last night, were airlifted to Kathmandu for treatment this afternoon.

Among the injured sent to HAMS Hospital Kathmandu for treatment were Buddhimaya Tamang, 70, Sabina Basnet, 22, and Suresh Basnet, 19 of Jambu, and Furwa Tamang, Pemulam Tamang and his seven-day daughter.

Deputy Superintendant of Police (DSP) Madhav Prasad Kafle informed that the injured were sent to Kathmandu by the helicopters of Air Dynasty and Mountain Air.

Meanwhile, the identities of those missing in the flood and landslide have been ascertained. Among the missing identified are Bhim Bahadur Waiba, Chinmaya Waiba, Leelamaya Waiba, Pasang Dolma Waiba, Neema Dolma Waiba, Laxman Waiba, Sunmaya Waiba, Janak Bahadur Thing, Sabeen Tamang, Akash Tamang, Lok Bahadur Tamang, Salini Tamang, Sawesh Tamang and Yukta Bahadur Tamang of Jambu, Bhotekoshi Hydropower secretary Himesh Sharma and JICA engineer Akash KC.

Likewise, other missing were Neemadorje Tamang, Manju Tamang, Pasang Nurbu Tamang and Sahil Tamang of Bulkot.

The flood also swept away bus, tanker, truck and car. It had also taken away 36 houses and huts in two different areas.

Police said that the vehicular traffic was disrupted with the Bhotekoshi River blowing away around 300 meters section of the road along the Araniko Highway in Jure.
