22,369 Nepalis rescued so far



KATHMANDU: The government has rescued 22,369 Nepalis from abroad from June 5 to July 8. The government rescued 957 Nepalis from the UAE, Malaysia, and Qatar on Wednesday alone.

According to a press statement issued by the COVID-19 Crisis Management Center (CCMC) at 6:30 pm today, 479 Nepalis, including five bodies, were rescued from Qatar from three separate flights.

Two international flights also airlifted 327 Nepalis, including two bodies from Malaysia. Similarly, from the UAE, 151 Nepalis arrived in Nepal this evening via Nepal Airlines.

On Wednesday, the Nepal Airlines and the Himalayan Airlines conducted two flights each and one each by Qatar and Malindo Air to rescue the 957 Nepalis.

The government had rescued 4,775 Nepalis from Kuwait, the highest number of Nepalis rescued from a single country, according to the statement.

From Sri-Lanka, the government has rescued only five Nepalis.

Likewise, Nepali people are coming to Nepal from the Gulf countries and Malaysia via five international chartered flights on Thursday.

A flight of Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC is bringing Nepalis from Kuala Lumpur of Malaysia.

Similarly, people are also returning home from the UAE, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah via chartered flights.

According to Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), Himalaya Airlines and Nepal Airlines are conducting flights to rescue stranded Nepalis from Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait.

Before sending the rescued Nepalis to their respective States, they would be kept in holding centers for collecting their personal details.
