97 rural municipalities still sans electricity

KATHMANDU: As many as 97 rural municipalities sans electricity are likely to get it by next year.

Addressing to lawmakers’ queries, Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Barsha Man Pun revealed the government plans to electrify those rural municipalities within next fiscal year.

He added that 1300 MW will be added to national grid in the forth coming fiscal year.

According to Minister Pun, although there was the demand of 1350 MW last year, due to lockdown it has gone down to 1100 MW this year.

Minister requested all to increase the electricity consumption.
