KATHMANDU: The Constitution amendment bill is to be presented for deliberation in the House of Representatives (HoR) today.

Law Minister Shiva Maya Tumbahamphe will present the bill to change the map of Nepal in the coat of arms in the Constitution to implement the new map for deliberations.

Minister Tumbahamphe had on May 31 presented the bill to the Parliament.

The government had presented the bill after the main opposition — Nepali Congress (NC) — decided to vote in support of the amendment bill to change the coat of arms in accordance to the new map including Kalapani, Lipu Lekh and Limpiyadhura.

The Parliament Secretariat had earlier included the issue in the proposed schedule for March 27. However, it was removed from the business schedule that day.

The parliament requires a two-thirds majority to amend the constitution. Meanwhile, the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) is short of two-third majority.

Therefore, the NCP-government aims to amend the constitution with the support of the Nepali Congress party. The NC has 63 seats in the House of Representatives.
