DoTM preparing directive to resume transport sercives



KATHMANDU: The Department of Transport Management (DoTM) has started making preparations to resume public transport services during the lockdown.

With the government’s policy to ease lockdown, the DoTM is also is formulating a directive to bring public vehicular services into operation.

“The directive has been prepared to resume transport services adopting measures to save passengers from the coronavirus,” said Gogan Bahadur Hamal, Director General of the DoTM.

Hamal said the discussion is on the directive is underway.

This directive is a technical guideline to be followed while operating vehicular services to save passengers from the deadly virus, said Hamal. “The consultation with the stakeholders is underway,” he said.

According to Hamal, passengers have to maintain social distancing and public vehicles are allowed to carry only half of its capacity and use of masks, hand gloves and sanitizer are will be made mandatory while traveling by public vehicles.
