Airfare goes down heavily
Airlines Operators Association of Nepal has slashed the airfare after the price of aviation fuel went down.
Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) on Sunday wrote a letter to the Association to implement the decision regarding the adjustment of airfare.
With the new adjustment, the airfare for the Kathmandu mountain flight has been fixed at Rs 2,230, Kathmandu-Bhadrapur Rs 1,950, Kathmandu-Biratnagar Rs 1,550.
Similarly, the airfare for Pokhara has been fixed at Rs 6,95, Kathmandu-Dhangadhi Rs 2,870, Kathmandu-Nepalgunj Rs 2,115 and Kathmandu-Simara Rs 558.
The government on June 9 had decided to automatically adjust the airfare in line with the price of the aviation fuel.
Nepal imports masks worth Rs 560 million in one month
There has been a rapid surge in the import of masks in Nepal following a rise in the cases of coronavirus.
According to the Department of Customs, masks worth more than Rs 560 million have been imported to Nepal in the month of Baisakh (April/May) alone.
Most of the masks to Nepal have been imported from China followed by India, Thailand, the UAE and Turkey. Imports from China amounted to Rs 502.27 million.
A total of 84,395 kg of masks have been imported from India. The value of which is Rs 55.84 million. Similarly, masks weighing 364 kg worth Rs. 267,000 have been imported from Thailand, 107 kg of masks worth Rs 257,000 were imported from UAE and 82 kg of masks worth Rs 199,000 were imported from Turkey.
Nepal prepares to lift int’l flight ban for 10 days
The Nepal government is making preparations to lift the ban on the international flights for 10 days to bring Nepali people stranded abroad.A proposal has been submitted at the High Level Coordination Committee for the Prevention and Control of COVID-19 to lift the international ban to this effect.
The government is preparing to allow all the airlines companies to bring back the stranded Nepalis under the planning of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, according to sources.
A proposal has been submitted at the High Level Coordination Committee to lift the ban for 10 days, allowing the airline companies to conduct flights for the rescue of Nepali people, said an official at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation.
Inauguration date of Melamchi Water Project will be announced: Minister Magar
Minister for Water Supply Bina Magar has said that the Melamchi Drinking Water Project will be completed soon.
Speaking at the meeting of the House of Representatives on Monday, Minister Magar said that now is the time to end all the questions raised about the project.
Minister Magar informed the Parliament that the Ministry is preparing to announce the date of the inauguration of the Melamchi Drinking Water Project by completing the physical construction in the current fiscal year.
Replying to questions raised by the lawmakers about the budget allocation for the Ministry of Water Supply for the coming year, Minister Magar said, “It is time to end all the questions raised about the project. I would like to inform you that we are preparing to make public the time of the inauguration of the project.”
