Budget session of Federal Parliament begins today

KATHMANDU: The budget session of the Federal Parliament is starting today. A meeting of the House of Representatives under the budget session has been scheduled for 4 pm.

The meeting will begin with the reading of the President’s letter by the Speaker summoning the budget session.

The budget session for this year has been delayed due to lockdown caused by Coronavirus pandemic.

Parliament Secretariat has set an agenda for pre-budget discussion prior to policy and programs.

The discussion on principles and priorities of the budget has been set for May 10.

The pre-budget discussion should be held 15 days before the presentation of the budget as per the parliamentary regulations.

There is not enough time since the budget has to be presented in both the House of Representatives and National Assembly by May 28.

Earlier, the government used to introduce policies and programs prior to pre-discussion on the budget.
