KATHMANDU: A flight carrying EU citizens left for Munich on Wednesday as part of the repatriation efforts coordinated by the Delegation of the European Union to Nepal with its Member States and Honorary Consuls in Kathmandu and New Delhi.
Member States have filled 8 repatriation flights so far — 4 organized by Germany; 2 by France; and 1 each by the Netherlands and Czech Republic.
As of now, more than 2,000 Europeans have been repatriated.
“We are not out of the woods just yet. We still have several hundred EU citizens here who wish to be repatriated. And new names are added every day as tourists continue to be located in remote areas,” Veronica Cody, EU Ambassador to Nepal said.
“Our work here in the Delegation will continue in consolidating and updating the lists of those still in Nepal,” she said adding that they will go on working together with the MS in the days ahead so that all EU citizens wishing to return home may be able to do so.
