Nepali peace mission hailed in Africa



KATHMANDU: The brave work of Nepal Army’s peace mission in defusing explosives in Mali, a conflict-hit African country, has been hailed across the globe.

A peace mission of 140 army persons led by lieutenant colonel Dinesh Baniya is actively working in Mali.

The mission is focused on defusing the explosives. Force commander of peace mission in Mali, Dennis Gyllensporre decorated Nepali peace mission with UN Medal, lauding its bravery which bought significant improvement in Mali’s peace and security situation.

Similarly, sector commander Bubert Beaudoin observed that he was feeling proud of getting the opportunity to work together with disciplined, professional and bold Nepal Army persons.

Information to this was shared by the Nepali peace mission deputed in Mali. Beaudoin said, “Nepal Army is relentlessly working despite adverse security and hostile weather. I frankly praise the professional integrity of the Nepal Army.”

The Nepal Army has been working in the scorching heat of 55-degree centigrade since 2013 in Mali. As the rebellion surged in Mali, even the UN peace mission incurred a huge loss of lives and property.

Nepal stands fourth in sending forces in the UN peace mission. It has been discharging its duty to be equipped with technology and skilled human resources.

Currently, as many as 5,658 Nepal Army persons are working as peace mission in 12 conflict-ridden countries across the globe.
