Bidur municipality announces public holiday on Prithvi Jayanti

NUWAKOT: Bidur Municipality has announced a public holiday on the occasion of Prithvi Jayanti, the birth anniversary of King Prithvi Narayan Shah on January 12.

The Municipality said that the contribution of late king Shah, the unifier of modern Nepal, to the national unification should be remembered as he initiated the national unification campaign from Nuwakot.

Shah also built the Seven-story Palace in 1819 BS in Nuwakot and ruled from here for about 26 years.

Municipality Mayor Sanju Pandit said that the holiday was announced to pay tribute to the ‘nation’s guardian figure’.
