KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has urged one and all to stand united to fight COVID-19 pandemic, to safeguard the achievements made so far and the violent activities held recently against the constitution.

Speaking at the all-party meeting convened at Baluwatar prior to announcing the height of Mt Everest today, Prime Minister Oli urged one and all to get united against the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Leaders of Nepal Communist Party (NCP), Nepali Congress, Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP), Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), Rastriya Janamorcha and Nepal Workers and Peasants Party are attending the meeting.

There is a practice of holding an all-party meeting in case of any odd situation in the country, or in a situation when the government thinks of seeking consensus of all political parties on serious issues.

The decisions taken by the all-party meeting are often meant to ensure national unity on issues of national concerns.

This is the first of such meeting hosted by the Prime Minister in the past seven months.

Earlier on May 13, PM Oli had consulted major political parties before issuing the country’s new political map.
