KATHMANDU: The country recorded a total of 4,364 new cases of coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours in a record high single-day spike.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, with the recent data, the total number of active cases reached 98,617 in the country as of Thursday afternoon.
Ministry’s Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor said that altogether 18,473 sample tests were conducted across the country in the past 24 hours.
According to the Ministry of Health, 12 people have contracted the infection in Ilam, 32 in Udayapur, 4 in Okhaldhunga, 4 in Khotang, 55 in Jhapa, 6 in Taplejung, 3 in Tehrathum, 3 in Dhankuta, 2 in Panchthar, 4 in Bhojpur, 249 in Morang, 3 in Sankhuwasabha, 214 in Sunsari and 2 in Solukhumbu.
Similarly, 28 in Dhanusha, 11 in Parsa, 14 in Bara, 7 in Mahottari, 18 in Rautahat, 25 in Saptari, 14 in Sarlahi, 48 in Siraha, 2085 in Kathmandu, 29 in Kavre, 69 in Chitwan, 1 in Dolakha, 71 in Dhading, 3 in Nuwakot, 135 in Bhaktapur and 105 in Makwanpur, five in Ramechhap, 32 in Lalitpur, 13 in Sindhupalchowk and 3 in Sindhuli.
Similarly, 19 from Kaski, 11 from Gorkha, 10 from Tanahun, 28 from Nawalparasi East, 1 from Parbat, 3 from Lamjung, 12 from Baglung, 13 from Syangja, 27 from Arghakhanchi, 7 from Kapilvastu, 18 from Gulmi, 55 from Dang, 21 from Nawalparasi, 1 from Palpa, 21 from Palpa 57 and 199 from Rupandehi have been found infected.
Likewise, one from Rolpa, 6 from Kalikot, 6 from Jumla, 3 from Dolpa, 4 from Dailekh, 5 from Rukumpashchim, 5 from Salyan, 106 from Surkhet, 3 from Humla, 10 from Achham, 21 from Kanchanpur, 21 from Kailali, 75 from Dadeldhura, 1 from Dotika and 7 from Doti and one in Baitadi have been diagnosed coronavirus positive.
According to Dr. Gautam, 2,675 individuals got discharged from the hospitals in the past 24 hours while the number of people winning the battle against the virus reached 71,343 in the country.
Nepal’s recovery rate stands at 72.3 percent, he added.
Nepal currently has 26,684 active cases, he said.
Dr. Gautam stated that a total of 11,717 people are in institutional isolation and 14,967 others are in home isolation facilities.
Likewise, 4,460 people are in quarantine facilities across the country at present.
Similarly, he said that 235 infected ones are receiving treatment in ICU beds and 42 others are on ventilators across the country.
According to the Ministry of Health, 29 persons are undergoing treatment in ICU in Province 1, 14 in Province 2, 128 in Bagmati Province, six in Gandaki Province, 39 in Lumbini Province, 19 in Karnali Province.
Spokesperson Dr. Gautam also said that four in Province 1, three in Province 2, 30 in Bagmati, and five in Lumbini Province are on the ventilator support.
Likewise, 12 people succumbed to the virus in the past 24 hours taking the tally of coronavirus caused deaths in the country to 590, the Ministry confirmed.
Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Morang, Chitwan, Rupandehi, Sunsari and Surkhet have more than 500 active cases, the ministry said.
Meanwhile, two districts— Manang and Mustang—have no active cases.
