VP debate 2020: Pence and Harris clash

WASHINGTON: US Vice-President Mike Pence and Democratic running mate Kamala Harris clashed over the coronavirus pandemic in a TV debate.

Harris accused President Donald Trump of “the greatest failure of any presidential administration in the history of our country”, BBC reported.

Pence said Joe Biden’s pandemic plan was “plagiarism” of the current White House’s.

Pence did not interrupt as much as President Trump did last week, but when he did Harris more than once interjected: “Mr Vice-President, I’m speaking, I’m speaking.”

The viral moment that seemed to create the buzz was a fly landing on Pence’s head and remaining there for over two minutes, the report said.

But there were heated exchanges.

In the 90-minute debate at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Harris accused Pence and President Trump of deliberately misleading Americans about the lethality of the disease.
