DV 2022: This is how you need to apply

KATHMANDU: Do you want to try your luck? A piece of good news for Nepali nationals trying their luck to fly and settle legally in the United States of America.

Yes, the application period for the 2022 Diversity Visa (DV) program has already opened.

The program closes at noon on November 10, 2020 (10:45 pm local time; Kartik 25, 2077 B.S.), according to the US Embassy in Kathmandu.

Applicants wishing to fill up the forms are encouraged to apply early.

Information for Applicants:

Go to www.dvlottery.state.gov and start filling the electronic Diversity Visa (E-DV) entry form.

Applying is free and there is no fee to enter the DV Program.

According to the US Embassy, it does not recommend against using a consultant to assist an applicant with the application.

When registering, an applicant must list the name of the spouse and all of the applicant’s unmarried children under the age of 21 at the time of application. Submissions without the inclusion of family members will make the entry invalid.

Submissions without the inclusion of family members will make the entry invalid.

Likewise, an applicant can submit only one application. Applicants who submit more than one application will be disqualified from consideration.

Applicants are also required to submit a recent photo. The same photo from previous DV years will be disqualified, the US statement said.

The Embassy has also urged applicants to precisely follow the photo rules and associate each photo with the correct person on the application.

Applicants should not wear glasses in their photos.

Likewise, applicants need valid, unexpired passport information while filling the form. “This year’s entries must include the primary applicant’s passport number, country of issuance, and the passport expiration date,” the statement added.

Likewise, applicants are required to print and save their confirmation number, which is the only way to check the applicant’s status.

The only method to determine whether the applicant is selected for the DV is by entering the confirmation number at www.dvlottery.state.gov on or after May 8, 2021.

The DV Lottery program is administered by the United States Department of State.

The DV Lottery immigration program grants 50,000 Permanent Resident cards each year to individuals world-wide that entered the DV Lottery.

Winners of the DV Lottery immigration program are chosen randomly by a computer drawing conducted by the United States Department of State.

For further information on the DV program, an applicant can visit www.dvlottery.state.gov or the U.S. Embassy Kathmandu website at https://np.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/.
