Woman dies of coronavirus in Pokhara

POKHARA: A woman succumbed to the coronavirus in Pokhara on Tuesday afternoon.

A 73-year-old woman infected with the coronavirus died at the COVID-19 treatment center under the Pokhara Institute of Health Sciences at 3:50 pm.

She was referred to the hospital on Sunday by Mediplus Hospital in Pokhara in suspicion of the coronavirus.

The hospital had started treatment by keeping her in pre-isolation and was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit after diagnosed positive for the pandemic virus.

According to Dr Arjun Acharya, Director of the hospital, the woman also had asthma.

With the death, Nepal’s death toll from the coronavirus has reached 307.

Nepal had recorded six new coronavirus-related deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 306, the Ministry of Health and Population had stated.

In a regular press briefing on Tuesday afternoon, Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam had said that five males and one female have died of the pandemic.

A 70-year-old man in Sunsari, two men aged 54 and 60 years in Parsa, an 85-year-old man in Kathmandu and a 62-year-old man in Kapilvastu had died of the coronavirus.

Likewise, a woman aged 80 years had succumbed to the pandemic in Kathmandu, Spokesperson Dr. Gautam said.

Nepal had recorded 11 COVID-19 deaths on Monday.

Meanwhile, Nepal recorded 902 coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours. With the new cases, Nepal’s caseload has reached 48,138.
