Over 45,000 Nepalis repatriated home from abroad



KATHMANDU: The government has rescued more than 45 thousand Nepalis stranded abroad due to the coronavirus pandemic.

So far 45 thousand 662 Nepalis have been repatriated home from 58 countries in the adverse situation tossed up by the global coronavirus pandemic.

The highest number of Nepalis rescued is from the United Arab Emirates (12 thousand 25) and the lowest number (two each) from Iran, Armenia and the Czech Republic.

Similarly, 6,582 Nepalis have been repatriated home from Saudi Arabia, 6464 from Malaysia, 6320 from Kuwait and 4,718 from Qatar.

According to the COVID-19 Crisis Management Centre (CCMC), so far 9418 Nepalis from State-1, 7356 from State-2, twelve thousand 570 from Bagmati State, 5782 from Gandaki State, 7479 from State-5, one thousand twenty-six from Karnali State and 1,168 from Sudurpaschim State have been rescued from abroad.

Eight hundred and sixty-three people were repatriated on Friday alone while the bodies of 151 people were brought from Dubai of the UAE.
