55 including mayor test positive for coronavirus in Parsa

KATHMANDU: As many as 55 people including mayor of Bahudarmai municipality Nitendra Sah Teli have been infected with coronavirus in Parsa district.

They were confirmed infected during tests at the laboratory of Narayani Hospital on Friday.

Teli who is now in home isolation is making preparations to go to hospital, his family sources said.

“After testing positive for coronavirus, I am staying at home isolation. I have been informed that all the hospital beds are occupied. Once a bed becomes empty, I will go to the hospital,” said Teli.

Among those infected are seven women and 48 men aged 22 to 74. Three of them are from Bara and one is from Sarlahi while the rest are from Parsa.

One among 55 infected has already died.  His swab sample test conducted posthumously at Gandak Hospital came out positive. He is 74-year-old from Chhapkaiya of Birgunj Metropolitan City.
