NCP heading towards situation of 1998: Former Minister Baskota

KATHMANDU: Former Minister for Communication and Information Technology Gokul Prasad Baskota has said the ruling Nepal Communist Party is heading towards the situation of 1998 when the then CPN-UML had split up.

Posting a twitter message on Friday, Former Minister Baskota hinted that the dispute of the NCP is not likely to end describing the current stalemate of the ruling party similar to that of 1998.

Following intraparty differences Bamdev Gautam-led faction had split up then CPN-UML to form CPN-ML in March 1998.

Baskota has also hinted that an unseen power is playing a role behind the curtain to not let the ruling party united.

The intraparty feud has deepened in the NCP with Oli and Dahal-Nepal camps without budging an inch from their respective differences.

Dahal-Nepal camp has been reiterating that Prime Minister Oli has to resign at least from one of his posts while the latter seems to have graceful exit by handing over the chairmanship through the general convention of the party.

He wants to lead the government until the term of the current House of Representatives.
