KATHMANDU: 30 people who came to Nepal from India with the Arghakhanchi youth who died on the way have tested coronavirus positive.

According to Bikram Thapa, the Assistant Chief District Officer of Arghakhanchi, 30 people travelling with the youth, who died of coronavirus, have tested positive.

After the 35-year-old youth’s death from coronavirus, the people travelling with the youth in the same bus were kept in quarantine.

The youth from Bhumikasthan 9, Arghakhanchi had died on May 23 while returning from India. When his swab was tested posthumously, he was found coronavirus positive.

After his death in India, the fellow passengers were kept in quarantine.

“We had kept all 51 people who had travelled with the deceased in a separate quarantine,” Thapa said. “30 are found coronavirus positive,” he said.

Out of these 30 infected cases, 2 are female.

According to Assistant CDO Thapa, 28 are from Sandhikharka Municipality  and 1 each are from Panini and Sitganga.

However, the deceased youth was cremated before his swab test result became public.

Although the deceased was brought to Kapilvastu with his fellow travelers from India, his dead body was sent with the relatives in another vehicle from Kapilvastu.

However, his family members tested negative in the test.

Although the youth died in India, as his swab was tested after he was brought to Nepal, the Ministry of Health and Population has included him in the coronavirus cases in Nepal.
