SC orders govt to evacuate Nepalis stranded at border points

KATMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has ordered the government to evacuate Nepalis stranded at the border points.

The apex court maintained that the government should evacuate Nepalis marooned at border points and those willing to come to Nepal by managing proper quarantine.

A joint bench of Justices Deep Kumar Karki and Manoj Kumar Sharma issued the order on Tuesday.

The court said that those marooned should be provided with necessary food and shelter if evacuating them immediately is not possible.

The apex court was responding to a writ filed by Advocate Mina Khadka Basnet and Madhav Basnet among others.
