NRB shall address corona-affected business: Governor Adhikari

KATHMANDU: Newly-appointed Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank Maha Prasad Adhikari has expressed his readiness to cooperate with the private sector as well and address the adverse impact caused by coronavirus.

Speaking at the welcome program organized by Nepal Rastra Bank, Governor Adhikari pointed out the uncertainty led by coronavirus and said, “Although we are not certain where the corona transmission will lead to the economy, we have to be prepared to face the challenges it can create; hence, will work on it.”

He promised to work hard to help the economy overcome this adverse condition. “I am acquainted with the hardship our economy has to go through due to the corona crisis, so I will do my best to rejuvenate the business crippled by the pandemic at the earliest,” he added.

A former employee at NRB, Governor Adhikari expressed his commitment to keeping the role, dignity and prestige of the central bank.

Welcoming the governor at his office Deputy Governor duos of NRB Chinta Mani Siwakoti and Shiva Raj Shrestha expressed their happiness at the fact that the central bank has got the leadership familiar with the banking system and groomed in NRB itself.

After taking oath in office from Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana, Adhikari resumed his post in the office on Tuesday.

After retiring as Deputy Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, Adhikari was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Nepal Investment Board.
