FNJ calls for safe environment for journalists

KATHMANDU: The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has asked the government to ensure a safe environment for journalists to disseminate news during the ongoing lockdown period.

Issuing a press statement, general secretary of FNJ Ramesh Bista said that the media persons were discharging vital responsibility to inform the citizens by taking risks amid difficulties.

The FNJ has also asked the bodies concerned to provide correct information to the journalists in an accessible manner and also to create a working environment in a free, secure and fair manner by respecting the rights guaranteed by the Constitution of Nepal.

Likewise, the FNJ has said that its serious attention was drawn towards some cases of attacks and misbehaviors to journalists and manhandling to the journalists in the time of reporting.
