KATHMANDU: The preparations are underway to mass produce surgical masks so as to meet the growing demands of the customers.

Entrepreneur Deepak Malhotra in collaboration with Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) is set to produce 500,000 surgical masks at a time when the people are complaining the shortage of surgical goods in the market.

The NCC has formed a panel under led by Malhotra to purchase a machine to manufacture surgical masks.

The machine will be imported the next week to produce masks from the next week.

He has claimed that the machine can produce up to 500,000 pieces of masks from the next week.

With the decision, entrepreneurs are focused on importing masks and a machine to produce surgical items after the government decided to exempt excise duties on the import of masks and other sanitary items.
