Coronavirus: 57,000 recover after treatment, recovery rate 94 %



KATHMANDU: The fear has gripped the entire world as the coronavirus has spread globally, leaving 3,494 dead and over 100,000 infected.

The COVID19 which broke out at Whuhan City of Hubei Province of China in last December has already spread to over 95 countries.

Among those killed 88, percent are Chinese citizens. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 3,070 out of 3,494 dead are Chinese.

Of the global death toll, 12 percent from 17 countries have died outside China. A total of 441 have died outside China.

But on the flip side, a large number of people who got hospitalized for coronavirus have also recovered and gone back home.

According to WHO, the death rate of those infected with the coronavirus is 6 percent while that of recovery rate is put at 94 percent.

Among those 102,048 who were hospitalized following infection, 57,609 have recuperated after treatment. Likewise, 40,945 are undergoing treatment, of which 84 percent or the condition of 34,544 is normal while that of 16 percent or that of 6,401 is critical.

They are being treated in isolation so that the virus would not spread to the other people.

55,000 people recover in China

Among 80,651 Chinese citizens infected with the virus, 55, 402 have been recovered following treatment.

A total of 21, 179 people are currently undergoing treatment at various hospitals in China, of which 5,737 are in critical condition while 3,070 have died. The rate of infection from the coronavirus has drastically declined in the last one week in China.
