KATHMANDU: The government has urged Kathmanduites to remain on high alert amid the growing risk of COVID-19 in the Kathmandu Valley of late.
Minister for Foreign Affairs and Spokesperson of the government, Pradeep Gyawali on Wednesday appealed people in the Valley to maintain extreme cautiousness.
Speaking at a press meet at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology on Wednesday, he said that among the total new COVID-19 cases being reported across the country every day, around half of them were from the Valley.
He added that Kathmandu Valley was still at higher risk of COVID-19.
Minister Gyawali said it is imperative for the Kathmandu Valley people to observe precaution against the coronavirus due to the increasing cases of the pandemic in Kathmandu.
“It could wreak havoc to us as the Valley is home to more than four million people if the infection goes out of our control,” he said urging one and all to maintain health safety protocols put in place by the government to stem the spread of the coronavirus.
