KATHMANDU: The main opposition party, Nepali Congress (NC), has lambasted Prime Minister KP Oli and his government of disregarding the genuine demands of Dr. Govinda KC who is on fast unto death for 24 days now.

Issuing a press release, NC Spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma has asked PM Oli if Baluwatar was planning to buy the pall to KC rather than addressing his concern.

“Dr. KC is on 24th day of fast-unto-death and the government is yet to form a committee to initiate dialogue with him,” NC Spokesperson said asking, “Is government mulling over sending shrouds to Dr. KC rather than listening to his demands and addressing them?”

Citing that PM Oli had been a staunch critic of the armed rebellion once led by Prachanda and his Maoist party, Sharma has asked PM Oli if he has forgotten all democratic norms and values after getting elected to the parliament.

Sharma has also criticized the ill treatment and manhandling against the saintly doctor and warned of strong protests provided the government does not get rid of the arrogance of power.

“Dr. KC’s health is getting critical. The childish stubbornness of Baluwatar will cost a lot the Prime Minister,” spokesperson Sharma said, “In the struggle between the authoritarian communist rule and the democracy, democracy will finally turn victorious.”

He has also warned the government to listen to Dr. KC at the earliest and added that the consequence of disregard or indifference to KC’s agenda will cost a lot to the government.
