Dhorpatan flood: Death toll reaches 17, 21 still missing

BAGLUNG: The number of people killed in the Bhujikhola river of Dhorpatan Municipality in Baglung district has reached 17 so far while 21 people are still missing.

The flash flood following incessant rain Wednesday night washed away more than half a dozen houses close to the river bank.

The rescue and search team recovered a body of a 34-year-old man at Badigadkhola of Badigad Rural Municipality-7 today, Police Inspector Prakash Singh Bhandari at Area Police Office Burtibang, who was involved in the search, said.

The District Police Office Baglung informed that only 15 of the 17 dead have been identified. It is said most of the bodies of the victims were found around Badigadkhola river, far from the flood-hit area.

The Nepali Army, Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force personnel are mobilized in the search.
