KATHMANDU: Vice-Chairman of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP), Bam Dev Gautam, has reiterated that he does not belong to any camp in the party.

His remarks come amidst the ongoing intra-party conflict and the growing demarcating lines to put the active members into either of the Chairman KP Oli, Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda and senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal’s camps.

In his press note issued on Friday he has claimed that his six-point proposal he presented in the party secretariat’s meeting was an attempt to bridge the gaps, strengthen the party and address the people’s expectation from the party as well.

“Due to the intra-party conflict there are three camps led organized under three different schools of thoughts and headed by comrades KP Oli, Prachanda and Nepal,” Gautam has affirmed adding, “However, I am not and do not want to be in either of these groups.”

He added that the proposal put forward in the party was also an attempt to keep me aloof the groups ensure the longevity of the party’s unity.

However, he has stated that he has been visiting both chairmen whenever they call him.

“I have been seeing comrades Oli and Prachanda whenever they call me,” Gautam has added, “And, I offer my opinion and advice as I deem it right.”

He has added that he has been criticizing the chairman duo whenever he felt they made some errors and that has been done to either of them.

“I don’t regard the meetings or gatherings called by both or either of the party chairmen as an indication of groupism, I join them whenever I feel it worth,” he has said in his press note, “Hence, I request the media not to present me as a person belonging to this or that camp.”

He has also refused the ongoing media comments that he has any hand behind the appointment of Sushil Bhatta as Investment Board Nepal’s Chief Executive Officer.
