PM Oli congratulates his Sri Lankan counterpart



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli has congratulated Mahinda Rajapakse, the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, on his landslide victory in the Sri Lankan People’s Party parliamentary election.

PM Oli phoned Rajapakse today and congratulated him on behalf of the Government and people of Nepal as well as the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) and his own, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

The Prime Ministers of both countries expressed happiness over mutual relations between the two countries remaining cordial while reiterating their wish to further strengthening it in the coming days.

During the telephone talk, the two leaders exchanged views on the national experience in the fight against COVID-19 and the efforts made by the governments of both countries in addressing the situation tossed up by the pandemic.

Prime Minister Oli and his Sri Lankan counterpart also expressed their desire to continue the exchange of high level visits after the situation became normal.

PM Oli expressed gratitude to the Sri Lanka government for extending support in the reconstruction of two cultural sites following the Gorkha Earthquake in 2015.
