Local levels manage funds internally to purchase VTM



NAWALPARASI: Two local levels in Nawalparasi (Bardghat-Susta West) have purchased VTM (viral transport medium) to collect throat swab samples of those staying in quarantine for the coronavirus test through PCR procedures.

The local governments managed the funds internally to obtain VTM. It is said quantity of VTM sent by the Federal and State governments to the district is not sufficient to undertake the required PCR testing.

Sunwal Municipality has purchased 500 VTMs followed by 450 VTMs by the Susta Rural Municipality.

Other local governments are learnt to have been proceeding toward the VTM procurement.

The district consists of three municipalities and four rural municipalities. It has so far reported 19 coronavirus cases.

As of now, four isolation centers have been established in four locations here.

Lately, Belbani Health Post based in Susta Rural Municipality has been developed as a 10-bed isolation facility and the Palhi Multiple Campus Building in Ramgram Municipality into a 50-bed isolation center.

The Sunwal Municipality has already had a 25-bed isolation based in local Community Learning Center and the Bardghat-based Martyr Memorial Community Hospital has a four-bed isolation ward.

The Bardghat Municipality shares about its plan of expanding the capacity of isolation at the hospital.
