KATHMANDU: The government has banned chartered flights after international airlines have charged arbitrary fares in the name of chartered flights at the time when all flights have been suspended due to the lockdown.

“It has come to our notice that some international airlines have commenced booking for commercial passenger flights to and from Nepal,” said the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) issuing notice on Saturday.

It has added that Nepal has suspended all commercial passenger flights other than repatriation flights.

CAAN further stated that permission to operate passenger repatriation flight also requires processing through the diplomatic channel.

It has urged not to issue any bookings for scheduled or passenger chartered flights originating from or with destination to Nepal.
