Workers deprived of payments since eight months

BAITADI:
Workers (long-term workers) associated with a road construction project in Baitadi have complained of non-payment for the past eight months.

Twelve length workers working for the Patan- Pancheshwor road project have said they face survival needs as they have not got the payment since September. The payment was stopped after the project was listed under the responsibility of the State government.

Laxmi Damai shared that unpaid workers were struggling to run the family.

However, it was said earlier that State government ministers and lawmakers here assured that length workers would get their remuneration.

But Infrastructure Development Office, Baitadi chief Jagat Prasad Joshi claimed the ministry had not made any decision to pay the workers. As he said, such workers were told earlier to leave works.

The payment of three months (mid-July- till mid-September) was ensured through the construction company.
These workers are with the project for years and they have demanded their reinstatement.
