Kaski committee visits Annapurna rural municipality to assess lockdown scenario



KASKI: The District Coordination Committee, Kaski, has made a field visit of the Annapurna rural municipality to take stock of the problems that emerged during a lockdown and the development endeavors taking place there.

A team led by committee chief Bain Bahadur Chhetri visited the rural municipality and also assessed the impact of lockdown and efforts to prevent the risk of COVID-19 infection.

The team reached Wards No 1, 2, 3, 5, and 6 of the rural municipality and interacted with respective ward chairs. On the occasion, ward chairs apprised the team that official activities had been largely hampered due to the absence of employees.

As they said, details of those recently returned from abroad and foreign employment had been collected. However, activities concerning the education and health sectors and agriculture to be undertaken through the wards are taking place regularly.

Amidst lockdown, the local government implemented the Measles-Rubella vaccination campaign. Ward 6 chair Chandra Bahadur Gurung informed that foods have been collected to distribute indigent families and workers and the distribution of relief materials is awaited.

Details of 171 indigent families were also prepared for the relief distribution. Annapurna rural municipality-5 ward chair Jeevnath Poudel briefed the team that farmers were asked to maintain social distancing; those recently returned from abroad have been advised home quarantine and disinfectants sprayed in the Nayapul-based market area.

After reviewing the rural municipality’s situation in lockdown, committee chief Chhetri said service delivery of most of the service-oriented offices was found to be non-effective.
