Govt committed to press freedom: Minister Khatiwada

KATHMANDU: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Dr Yuba Raj Khatiwada on Wednesday expressed the government’s commitment in implementing fundamental rights related to information and communications guaranteed by the Constitution.

He said the government was committed to implementing the rights as per the international norms, values and practices of freedom of expression, and press freedom and information dissemination.

The minister made the assurance on the occasion of the National Journalism Day today.

He also evaluated the role played by the sector in upholding the democratic governance system, and expressed his confidence that journalists and the mass media would play a significant role in information dissemination in a impartial, balanced, professional and responsible manner.
