DoL monitors whether or not hotels giving salary to staff



KATHMANDU: The Department of Labor is monitoring whether or not hotel operators have given salary for the Nepali month of Chaitra to their staffers.

The Department has initiated monitoring after complaints that several hotels have not given remuneration for the month of Chaitra despite the government’s instruction to compulsorily give salary for that month to their employees.

The hotel operators had earlier agreed during discussions with the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security.

DoL said the Hotel Association Nepal (HAN) and the Joint Trade Union Coordination Committee will facilitate in the monitoring.

Likewise, the Labour and Occupational Security Department, and the Labour and Employment Office would follow-up on this, according to Ministry’s spokesperson Suman Ghimire.

The Ministry has urged all concerned to make arrangements for paying salary to the workers by utilizing the economic facilities provided by the government.
