NC district presidents urge to expand COVID-19 tests to all districts

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress district presidents have demanded the government to expand the COVID-19 test to all 77 districts.

Issuing a joint press release today, the NC presidents from 77 districts made aware the government that the coronavirus could spread in Nepal alarmingly, so the test must be expanded to all districts for everyone’s reach.

The government needs to provide quality safety materials including PPE to the health workers, security persons, and media persons.

Nuwakot president of the party, Jagdishwor Narsing Karki, said those stranded on Nepal-India border must be brought to the home and kept in quarantine.

Similarly, they demanded immediate distribution of relief as foodstuffs to the families of the labor and poor people across the country.

A high-level all-party mechanism should be formed to properly distribute the relief amount collected from various sectors and monitor it effectively. They demanded the cancellation of a government decision to task the Nepal Army to buy medical equipment.

The district presidents also directed the party cadres across the country to raise awareness against COVID-19, share information on time and work for the safety of people’s lives.
