Significant improvement in PM Oli’s health, says TUTH

KATHMANDU: The Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) on Friday said there has been a ‘gradual, yet remarkable improvement’ in the health of Prime Minister KP Oli.

PM Oli is recuperating after he underwent a kidney transplant on Wednesday.

The TUTH said newly transplanted kidney has started functioning.

Doctors have been encouraging PM Oli to stroll around. “He (PM) has started to walk slowly,” a press statement issued by TUTH said on Friday afternoon adding, “We have started giving him solid food as well.”

“The PM’s condition is stable, all the procedures including injection and feeding to be carried post-operation are taking place,” said Dr Prem Khadga, Executive Director at the TU Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj.

PM Oli’s transplanted kidney is functioning well as the metabolic by-products in his body have been flushed out through urine.

If the Prime Minister’s health condition improves as expected, he will be discharged in a week, according to doctors.

Likewise, the health condition of Samikshya Sangraula, a lady from Jhapa, who donated the kidney to PM Oli, is also stable, doctors said.
