Qasem Soleimani: Iran rolls back commitments to nuclear deal

TEHRAN: Iran has declared that it will no longer abide by any of the restrictions imposed by the 2015 nuclear deal, international media reports said.

In a statement, it said it would no longer observe limitations on its capacity for enrichment, the level of enrichment, the stock of enriched material, or research and development.

The announcement followed a meeting of the Iranian cabinet in Tehran.

Tensions have flared in the Middle East over the killing of Iranian General Qasem Soleimani by the US in Baghdad.

According to reports, the US embassy compound in Baghdad was targeted in an attack on Sunday evening. Four rounds of “indirect fire ” had been launched in the direction of the embassy. However, no casualties were reported.

Meanwhile, Iraq’s parliament passed a resolution that told the government to end the presence of foreign troops in the country and restrict the use of its resources.

The vote was one of the first moves in the country’s response to the US killing of Gen. Qassem Soleimani, a top Iranian military official.
