KATHMANDU: The Tribhuvan University (TU) is planning to resume classes formerly disturbed by the coronavirus pandemic outbreak.
According to Professor Dr. Peshal Dahal, the Registrar of TU, as a significant number of students could not attend the virtual classes, the university has decided to direct all campuses to resume classes at the physical presence of the teachers and the students.
The decision of TU’s Executive Council has facilitated the way for the university to direct the colleges under it to run classes in the physical presence at the colleges.
The Council has, however, decided to let the respective colleges and the local levels to decide the postponement of the classes in case the pandemic spread gets worse there.
“With the consent of the local bodies, the colleges can operate the classes as before, but in case the coronavirus risk increases, they should go back to virtual classes again” Prof Dr. Dahal informed.
He informed that many colleges outside the Valley have been running their classes in the physical presence of the teachers and the students.
“In many places like Jumla, Bhojpur, Ilam, Tehrathum the classes are run as before, the only difference is in precaution, the colleges are abiding health safety measures to minimize the risk of coronavirus pandemic,” TU Registrar Dahal added.
He shared that the University has directed the colleges in the Valley to make public announcement about the decision to run the colleges as before.
The college administration is coordinating with the local authority to assess the risk so that the colleges do not turn out to be the center for coronavirus transmission.
All the colleges should, however, ensure that every thing mentioned in government’s health safety protocols are strictly abided by them.
TU’s academic calendar has been adversely affected the coronavirus pandemic, and the lockdown and the prohibitory orders issued to minimize the coronavirus risk.
