Dolpa village becomes alcohol free in showing faith to God

DOLPA: A village of Dolpa has become alcohol-free in showing faith to god.

Dolpa’s Mudkechula rural municipality-6, Narku Thargaun has become an alcohol free zone with complete halt of production and sale of liquor as locals are hell bent towards prayers and worship to gods.

The village has also witnessed peace and tolerance.

Not a single family in the village of 33 households has produced and consumed liquor for the past couple of years with the belief that alcoholic engagement would not augur well, according to Ram Bahadur Bohora, a local priest.

“There used to be consumption of alcohol inciting quarrel in the houses and domestic violence but now the entire village is peaceful with the closure of alcoholic production and consumption”, said ward member Munlal Budha.

This has imparted a positive message to other communities in the district.
