IPL2020: Mumbai defeats Delhi to reach final

KATHMANDU: Mumbai Indians has reached the final by defeating Delhi Capitals by 57 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL) held at Dubai International Cricket Ground in the United Arab Emirates on Thursday night.

Delhi Capitals was limited to 143 runs while it was chasing the 201-run target set by Mumbai losing eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

MP Stoinis’ made highest 65 runs including six fours and three sixes off 46 balls while AR Patel, K Rabada and SS Iyer contributed 42, 15 and 12 runs respectively.

Mumbai’s JJ Bumrah took highest four wickets of Delhi,  TA Boult grabbed two wickets while, KH Pandya and RD Chahar picked one wicket each.

Earlier, invited to bat first after losing the toss, Mumbai notched up 200 runs losing five wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

In reply, Mumbai’s Ishan Kishan top-scored with 55 runs including four fours and three sixes off 30 balls and remained not out.

SA Yadav, Q de Kock and HH Pandya scored 51, 40 and 37 runs respectively.

Despite the loss of the match, Delhi has still a chance to reach the final. But it has to secure a win in the second qualifier.

Delhi will now play with the winner of the eliminator in the second qualifier.

Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad are locking horns in the eliminator.
