MTPD launches special campaign targeting festive season



KATHMANDU: The Metropolitan Traffic Police Division (MTPD) has launched a special operation targeting the upcoming festive season.

Five persons have been arrested for overcharging for tickets to passengers leaving Kathmandu Valley.

Bimal Khatri and Kiran Poudel were arrested from the counter in Koteshwor area while Jitendra Shah, Madan Bhujel and Dharmendra Yadav were arrested from Balkhu.

The arrested have been handed over to the Metropolitan Police Circles for necessary action.

According to the department, the traffic police have launched the campaign in which cops are disguised as passengers.

MTPD Chief Senior Superintendent of Police Bhim Prasad Dhakal said that action has been taken against those overcharging fare by deploying plainclothes police.

Plainclothes police cops have been recording audio/video as proof.
