Finance Ministry releases Rs 2.32 billion to upgrade health institutions at 264 local levels



KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Finance has disbursed Rs 2.32 billion to upgrade health institutions in 264 local levels. With the allocated budget, 2,910 beds will be constructed at the local levels.

On an average, the government has provided Rs 798,969 to the local level for one bed.

The Ministry of Health and Population has already issued a circular to the concerned local level through the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration to start work by mid-November.

The Ministry of Federal Affairs has sent a letter to 264 local levels on September 5 instructing them to move ahead with the work of upgrading health institutions.

Ministry has already sent Rs 2.32 billion to the concerned local level for the construction of 52 five-bed hospitals, 106 10-bed hospitals and 106 15-bed hospitals.

The Ministry has disbursed Rs 7 million for the construction of a five-bed hospital, Rs 8.5 million for the construction of a 10-bed hospital and Rs 10 million for the construction of a 15-bed hospital.

Ministry has already sent Rs 2.32 billion to the concerned local level for the construction of 52 five-bed hospitals, 106 10-bed hospitals and 106 15-bed hospitals.

In order to upgrade the health facilities, 4 health facilities have been selected in Achham, 2 in Arghakhanchi, 3 in Ilam, 3 in Udaipur, 6 in Okhaldhunga, 6 in Kanchanpur, 2 in Kapilvastu, 2 in Kathmandu, 4 in Kavrepalanchok, 1 in Kalikot, 4 in Kailali, 1 in Khotang, 4 in Gorkha, 4 in Chitwan and 1 in Jajarkot, 1 in Jumla, 4 in Jhapa, 2in Dadeldhura, 5 in Doti, 3 in Dolpa and 4 in Tanahun.

Similarly, 5 in Taplejung, 5 in Tehrathum, 4 in Dang, 5 in Darchula, 4 in Dailekh, 5 in Dolakha, 4 in Dhankuta, 4 in Dhanusha, 5 in Dhanusha, 3 in Dhading, 2 in Nawalparasi (West), 1 in Nawalparasi (East), 4 in Nuwakot, 5 in Parbat, 3 in Parsa, 6 in Panchthar, 3 in Palpa, 4 in Pyuthan, 4 in Bajhang, 4 in Bardiya, 2 in Banke, 5 in Baglung, 7 in Bajura, 4 in Bara, 6 in Baitadi, 4 in Bhaktapur, 4 in Makwanpur, 1 in Manang, 3 in Mahottari, 2 in Mugu, 2 in Mustang, 4 in Morang and 4 in Myagdi.

Likewise, 2 in Rasuwa, 3 in Ramechhap, 2 in Rukum West, 2 in Rukum East, 4 in Rupandehi, 6 in Rolpa, 4 in Rautahat, 1 in Lamjung, 2 in Lalitpur, 5 in Sankhuwasabha, 5 in Sarlahi, 6 in Salyan, 3 in Sindhupalchowk, 5 in Sindhuli, 2 in Sunsari, 6 in Surkhet, 3 in Solukhumbu, 3 in Syangja and 4 in Humla have been selected to upgrade health facilities at the local levels.

Earlier, the finance ministry had disbursed Rs 2 billion to set up temporary hospitals with up to five beds in each of the 649 non-hospital localities. The responsibility of running the hospital was given by the government to the concerned local level.

For the construction of the hospital, Rs. 1 million was disbursed to each local level at the rate of Rs. 200,000 per bed.
