Nine accused in fake gold case sent to jail



KATHMANDU: Kathmandu District Court on Tuesday sent nine persons arrested over the fake gold case to prison to face trial.

A bench of Judge Kamal Prasad Pokharel remanded nine persons in custody and released two on bail and one on general date.

The court remanded nine persons including police constables Bahadur Singh Kadayat and Prakash Shrestha to custody.

Nilesh Shakhiya, Umesh Shrestha, Iltaf Hussein Ansari and Kaushal Patel and Indian nationals Dewang Patel, Vijay Patel and Kaushal Patel have also been sent to jail.

Likewise, Vijay Tamang has been released on Rs 700,000 bail, and Shreenivas Upadhyaya has been released on Rs 1,000 bail, while Manish Mallik was released on general date.

Police had filed a case against 17 people in the case. Six of them are absconding. Warrants have been issued against them.
