Three held with idols in Jumla

JUMLA: Police have confiscated two statues with archeological and historical importance stolen from Chandannath Temple at Khalanga, Jumla.

Police deployed from Karnali Province Police Office in Surkhet and District Police Office, Jumla on Monday nabbed three persons along with two idols. The idols were stolen from the temple almost four years ago.

Those arrested are Sushil Bishta, 32, and Sudip Rawal, 23, from Chandannath-10, and Jayalal Thapa, 28, of Tatopani Rural Municipality-8, Spokesperson of Province Police Office SSP Rajeshnath Bastola said.

Bastola said that the statues were kept hidden in a land plot of Bista at Bohoragaun.

The idols were made up of silver like metal and further investigations from the police are ongoing, Spokesperson Bastola added.
