Compulsion to use foreign land for mobility comes to an end: Nepal Army

BYAS: It has been easier for local residents of Byas municipality-1, Chhangru in Darchula to travel to and from the district headquarters via the domestic land route.

It was made possible for the locals to travel along the Mahakali river banks after the Nepal Army constructed the Ghantibagad-Chhangru trial road and handed it to the local level on Monday.

According to Nepal Army spokesperson Santosh Ballav Poudel, with the trial road coming into operation the compulsion to use foreign land to travel from one place to another place of the country has come to an end.

There was a compulsion for the locals to use foreign territory to reach their destinations when the route stretching from the district headquarters to Chhangru via Ghantibagad has been obstructed for the past three years.

NA has gained success in constructing the domestic route in its four-month-long assiduous efforts which has ended the compulsion.

The NA source said the road with two meters breadth and 550 meters length was constructed at the cost of Rs 10.83 million. Some 65 army personnel and 33 civilians were heavily engaged for the construction of the road.

On the occasion of a handover programme, Chief Minister of the Sudurpaschim State Trilochan Bhatta appreciated the Nepal Army for their excellent performance in constructing the road despite a complicated time.

As many as 1,250 Nepali nationals of 184 households of the area would be directly benefited from operation of the domestic road. NA said that the mobilization of helicopters and courageous army personnel has made the construction of the road possible in the geographically remote area in a short span of time. RSS
